Work begins on £250million indoor water park for Britain’s first all-season indoor beach with 35 slides along with swim-up bars, water lagoons and adult-only section

Work has begun on a new £250 million indoor waterpark for Britain’s first all-season indoor beach which will feature 35 slides along with swim-up bars, water lagoons and an adult-only section.

Having been first confirmed in 2020, the park, called Therme Manchester, is set to open in 2025 now that construction has started.

It was originally set to open in late 2023, but the date was pushed back two years following revised plans that were submitted in the summer of 2022.

Based outside of the Trafford Centre on the Event City site, it is expected to attract up to two million visitors per year within the first five years, which would make it the most-visited ‘water-based attraction’ in Europe.

The park, which is being billed as the UK’s first ‘city-based wellbeing resort’, will cover 28 acres – which is the size of 19 football pitches.
