In the early days of the pandemic, when we didn’t have much information, partisan differences in concern about Covid were relatively small. A Gallup poll from February of 2020 found that precisely 35% of U.S. conservatives and 35% of liberals were worried about the pandemic.

Since then, a massive partisan gap has opened up, with Democrats being far more concerned than Republicans. This gap persists to the present day.

While being greatly concerned about the disease was not unreasonable in the spring of 2020, when few people had immunity and excess mortality was high, the situation we face now is dramatically different. All adults have been offered a vaccine, and a significant fraction of the population has natural immunity.

More and more people can see it’s past time we got back to normal. Even one-time ‘Zero Covid’ advocates like Devi Sridhar admit the virus has been “defanged”. But in the U.S., Democrats can’t seem to let Covid go.

Their refusal to face reality is laid bare in two recent surveys: one by Morning Consult, which is summarised in the New York Times; one a join venture of Rasmussen Reports and the Heartland Institute.

Let’s take each one in turn. Here are two headline results from the first survey. Remember, the data were collected in January of this year – mere weeks ago.

Wokeism has been described by its critics as the omnipresent use of race—and to a lesser extent, gender—to replace meritocracy and thus ensure equality of result. What follows from implementing that ideology are reparatory actions to reward those of the present by atoning for the injustices done to others in the past.

Some see it as an update of 1960s cultural Marxism fads. Others scoff that it is just a return to 1980s-style political correctness.

Still more see it as the logical successor to 1990s-type race, class, and gender obsessions—albeit with a shriller and more dangerous Jacobin, Soviet, and Maoist twist. Wokeism’s hysteria also invites comparisons to the Salem witch trials and McCarthyism.

But few have described wokeism as the cruel creed that it is.

Wokeism’s natural logic is to destroy the lives of people of both genders, of all races, and—if need be—those of every age, all to leverage an otherwise unworkable ideological agenda. It is nihilist and destroys everything it touches. It tears apart foes and friends alike, whether by fueling media-driven hatred of Donald Trump or faux-deification of the disaster that is now Joe Biden. 

Woke’s Victims

Defunding law enforcement and defaming police resulted in record numbers of murders in 12 U.S. cities. A wave of violent crime is even hitting America’s suburbs.

Without much fear of arrest, indictment, conviction, and incarceration, emboldened violent career criminals for the past year have robbed, assaulted, and killed the innocent with impunity.

The victims at the bus stop, the subway, or in the furniture store do not seem to warrant media or progressive attention, much less sympathy.

They are the ignored—the unnamed, and the forgotten collateral damage from the grand experiment of redefining crime as a social construct. The guilty are the elite academics, activists, and billionaires like George Soros who are untouched by what they birthed.

Deaths among people aged 18 to 49 increased more than 40 percent in the 12 months ending October 2021 compared to the same period in 2018–2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic, according to an analysis of death certificate data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The agency doesn’t yet have full 2021 numbers, as death certificate data trickles in with a lag of one to eight weeks or more.

The increase was notable across the country and in no state was COVID reported in more than 60 percent of the excess deaths. Some states experienced much steeper hikes than others.

Nevada was the worst with a 65 percent prime-age mortality surge of which only 36 percent was attributed to COVID.

The District of Columbia saw an even greater increase than Nevada — 72% — with COVID not being a factor in any of the deaths.

Increases in excess deaths were most noticeable in the Midwest and western and southern states, while states seeing the lowest increases were primarily from the Northeast.

Black Lives Matter transferred millions of dollars to a Canadian charity run by the wife of co-founder Patrisse Cullors, according to a report, which was used to buy a $6.3 million Toronto mansion to house an arts center.

News of the transfer of money to the Canadian group has raised further questions about transparency and accountability within Black Lives Matter – coming days after auditors said an inquiry into the handling of BLM’s $60 million war chest was necessary, and less than a year after Cullors was forced to stand down amid questions about her own property empire.

BLM Canada announced in July 2021 that they had recently purchased a three story Victorian mansion in the Baldwin Village area of Toronto, close to downtown. The imposing red brick house was previously the headquarters of the Communist Party.

On Saturday, The New York Post reported that the funds to purchase the property came from Black Lives Matter, and were transferred from the global network to M4BJ – a Toronto-based non-profit set up by Janaya Khan and other Canadian activists.

Khan is the spouse of BLM co-founder Patrisse Cullors.

A prominent bioethicist has suggested that health authorities should consider expanding vaccine mandates to cover illnesses other than COVID-19 such as measles and influenza.

The comments were made by Christiane Druml, lawyer and chair of the Austrian federal Bioethics Commission.

During an interview, Druml asserted, “The Covid-19 vaccination requirement could be the starting signal for a new attempt to better protect people against unnecessary diseases such as measles, whooping cough or influenza – also by means of vaccination requirements.”

The term “vaccination requirements” is a watered down way of saying ‘vaccination mandates’.

The bioethicist, who is also UNESCO Chair for Bioethics at the Medical University of Vienna, pointed to the development of combination influenza and COVID-19 vaccines as another sign that flu jabs could eventually become compulsory in some countries.

“There is definitely a social interest in avoiding unnecessary flu outbreaks,” she said.

Druml argued that some vaccinations, such as the measles jab, are already compulsory for children in Germany to be allowed to attend school, and should therefore be extended.

The lawyer has previously expressed support for mandatory COVID-19 vaccines, but for targeted groups such as people over 55 and for staff who work in hospitals, retirement homes and schools.

Spotify has announced will add ‘content advisories’, i.e. trigger warnings, to podcast episodes that discuss COVID-19, directing people to the platform’s ‘COVID-19 Guide‘, which includes podcasts by BBC News, the Economist, the New Scientist, the Guardian and Nature. In addition, it has published its ‘Platform Rules‘, which include the following description of ‘Dangerous Content’ that will be banned from the music streaming platform:

Content that promotes dangerous false or dangerous deceptive medical information that may cause offline harm or poses a direct threat to public health includes, but may not be limited to:

– asserting that AIDS, COVID-19, cancer or other serious life threatening diseases are a hoax or not real
– encouraging the consumption of bleach products to cure various illnesses and diseases
– promoting or suggesting that vaccines approved by local health authorities are designed to cause death
– encouraging people to purposely get infected with COVID-19 in order to build immunity to it (e.g. promoting or hosting “coronavirus parties”)

These announcements are clearly intended as a sop to the musical artists and others who are unhappy about Spotify’s decision not to remove Joe Rogan’s podcast in response to Neil Young’s threat to withdraw his music unless it did. But will they be sufficient to quell the rebellion? According to the Verge, which broke the story, an internal memo revealed that Joe Rogan’s podcast doesn’t “meet the threshold for removal” under these new rules.

A French journalist has been given police protection after fronting a documentary about the impact of radical Islam on a poor town in the north of the country.

Ophélie Meunier, 34, has received death threats in the wake of documentary Zone Interdite – or ‘Restricted Zone – that aired in France on January 23 looking at the influence of hardline Islamic views in the town of Roubaix, on the Belgian border.

Meunier found a restaurant where women are given cubicles to eat away from men, and a toy shop selling faceless dolls to comply with strict interpretations of Islam that forbid depicting facial features.

She also spoke to Amine Elbahi, 26, a Muslim lawyer from Roubaix who helped expose an educational institution that received £53,000 of public money to teach poor children, but was accused of spreading Islamic teachings instead.

Elbahi spoke out against the influence of radical Islam in the film, and has now been branded an ‘infidel’ and threatened with beheading. He is also under police guard.

News that the pair have been threatened has caused outcry in France, where many feel the secularism on which the modern-day republic was founded is under threat from religious ideologies brought in by overseas migrants.

“I think it’s highly likely that the next phase will involve death on a scale which will dwarf the claims of “covid-19 deaths” to date.” Dr. Mike Yeadon, former Pfizer Vice President.

Question– Why was mortality in Scotland higher in 2021 than 2020?

Answer– Because more people were dying. And the reason more people were dying is because more people had been vaccinated. In other words, there’s a link between rising mortality and the Covid-19 vaccine.

Question– You can’t prove that.

Answer– You’re right, I can’t. The evidence is all circumstantial. But it is compelling, all the same. For example, rising mortality hasn’t just happened in Scotland. It’s happened in many of the countries that launched mass vaccination campaigns in early 2021. They’ve all seen a significant uptick in all-cause mortality. Why is that? What did they do differently in 2021 than they did in the years before?

Question– I can see what you’re getting at, but I still don’t think you have enough evidence to make your case.

Answer– Okay, then you tell me: Why did more people die in 2021 than 2020? And, keep in mind, all-cause mortality isn’t just up a bit; it smashed the five-year average. Check out this post from Alex Berenson at Substack:

The liberal financier singled out Xi Jinping as the greatest threat to the ‘open societies’ of the world

Liberal billionaire George Soros called for the replacement of Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday, comparing the upcoming 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics to the 1936 Olympics in Nazi Germany.

In a speech delivered at the conservative Hoover Institution, Soros called China the “world’s most powerful authoritarian state” and “the greatest threat that open societies face today.”

Soros claimed that China, “like Germany in 1936,” will “attempt to use the spectacle” of the upcoming Beijing Olympic Games “to score a propaganda victory for its system of strict controls.”

He also called Xi “a true believer in communism” unlike former Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping, who introduced free market reforms, and warned that “Mao Zedong and Vladimir Lenin are his idols.”

Soros concluded his speech with a call for regime change in China – echoing the current line of many American conservatives, who also oppose Xi’s leadership.

It is to be hoped that Xi Jinping may be replaced by someone less repressive at home and more peaceful abroad

“This would remove the greatest threat that open societies face today and they should do everything within their power to encourage China to move in the desired direction,” the billionaire declared.

Soros is the founder and chairman of the Open Society Foundation, which backs liberal and left-wing causes in the US and around the globe, including Black Lives Matter, Planned Parenthood and immigration reforms. He has also taken an interest in US district attorney races, pouring millions into these contests, with some of these Soros-backed candidates now overseeing prosecution in America’s major cities.

US Navy Secretary Carlos Del Toro is the third fully-vaccinated and boosted military leader to test positive for Covid in under a month

US Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro announced that he had tested positive for Covid-19 – the latest in a string of senior US military leaders who have recently fallen ill with the virus.

In a statement, Del Toro revealed that he tested positive for the coronavirus on Monday morning and had last traveled on Friday, with negative test results until this week.

“I am following my physician’s instructions and will quarantine for the next five days at a minimum in accordance with CDC guidelines,” the Secretary said, explaining that he would continue to attend “key meetings and discussions” in a virtual capacity while Assistant Secretary Meredith Berger temporarily takes over physical duties.

Del Toro said he was “grateful to be fully vaccinated and to have received the booster shot in October as I know my symptoms could be far worse.”

Earlier in January, US General Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, tested positive for Covid-19 despite being fully vaccinated and boosted against the virus. Milley experienced mild symptoms. A few weeks before that, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin also tested positive for Covid-19, again experiencing mild symptoms.

Hundreds of US military personnel, including 45 US Navy sailors and at least 399 Marines, have been discharged in recent months for refusing to get fully vaccinated against Covid-19, with the Pentagon calling mandatory vaccination a “readiness” issue. The Marine Corps, which Del Toro is also responsible for as Navy Secretary, has been described as “the most aggressive” branch of the US military for vaccine mandate-related dismissals.
