Laurence Fox ‘tests positive for Covid’ days after wearing anti-vax T-shirt – you tested positive with a test not testing for it, mate. Jeeez. Go on Twitter and tell us what it’s like to have a cold

Laurence Fox had revealed he’s tested positive for Covid, just days after shared a photo of himself wearing a white T-shirt with the slogan: “No vaccine needed, I have an immune system.”

The actor and failed politician captioned the post: “I really like my new t-shirt.”

Only a few days later Laurence updated his followers on his health as he shared a photo of a positive lateral flow test and admitted that he “felt shivery and cr*p.”

Taking to Twitter he said: “In other news, felt shivery and cr*p yesterday. Turns out I have been visited by Lord Covid at last and have the Omnicold (if the LFT is to be believed!)

Anti-Asian hate crimes up 339%

2021 saw a massive increase in anti-Asian hate crimes, with Los Angeles and New York City recording the most cases

Anti-Asian hate crimes in the United States went up by a whopping 339% in 2021, according to a new report, with the majority of cases reported in Los Angeles and New York City.

The Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism revealed on Monday that the number of such racial offenses boomed in 2021, with Los Angeles recording “the most hate crimes of any US city this century” in the past year alone.

New York City came second for the number of recorded anti-Asian hate incidents, experiencing a 343% rise from 30 reported cases to 133. Anti-Asian hate crimes in San Francisco went up in 2021 by an enormous 567%, from nine to 60 incidents. Hate crimes in 2020 were already elevated – up 124% in the US from 2019.

“Reports of increased anti-Asian hate in 2021 are, sadly, not a surprise,” said Asian Americans Advancing Justice (AAJC) President John C. Yang in a statement. “Again, our communities are still under attack, and we must continue our efforts to address anti-Asian hate.”

Kicked, harassed, shunned: 9,000+ anti-Asian hate incidents reported in US during pandemic

Non-profit organization Stop AAPI Hate claimed last year that more than 9,000 incidents of anti-Asian hate had been recorded in the US since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Some 48% of cases reportedly involved “at least one hateful statement regarding anti-China and/or anti-immigrant rhetoric,” while 8.5% of incidents consisted of being “coughed at or spat on.” In nearly 1% of cases, victims were associated by attackers with the Chinese Communist Party.

Japan nominates ‘forced labor’ site for UNESCO World Heritage List

South Korea promised to fight Tokyo’s campaign to designate an old gold mine as a world heritage site

Tokyo nominated a complex of 400-year-old gold and silver mines on the small island of Sado off Japan’s western coast for the 2023 UNESCO World Heritage List on Tuesday.

“The Sado gold mine is a rare example of industrial heritage that operated continuously on a large scale,” Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno told reporters after the announcement.

However, South Korea has protested against the move, arguing that the mine, completely shut down in 1989, was tied to crimes committed by Tokyo when the whole Korean Peninsula was a Japanese colony between 1910 and 1945.

“Our government expresses strong regret over the Japanese government’s decision to push for the Sado mine, where Koreans were forced to labor during World War II, despite our repeated warnings, and we urged it to stop such attempts,” South Korea Foreign Ministry spokesperson Choi Young-sam said in a statement on Friday. Choi said Seoul will “mobilize various diplomatic channels” to fight Japan on the matter.

Matsuno said on Tuesday that Japan will “engage in dialogue with South Korea and other nations calmly and politely so the value of the site as a cultural asset will be recognized.”

As many as 2,000 Koreans were forced to work at the mine, according to Yonhap news agency.

Confidential Report Alleges Hackers Could Take Control of Voting System and Change Votes; Poses Risk for Elections in 12 States

According to a confidential report, hackers can alter votes by taking control of Georgia’s voting system touchscreens. Despite the reported vulnerability, state election officials are staying relatively mum.

(TNS) — A confidential report alleges that hackers could flip votes if they gained access to Georgia’s touchscreens, drawing interest from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Louisiana election officials and Fox News.

One key agency hasn’t asked the court to disclose the report: the Georgia secretary of state’s office.

There’s no sign that state election officials have done anything about the vulnerability, a potential flaw dangerous enough to be kept under seal, labeled in court as “attorneys’ eyes only” six months ago.

The vulnerability hasn’t been exploited in an election so far, according to examinations of the state’s Dominion Voting Systems equipment, but election security experts say it’s a risk for upcoming elections this year. Investigations have repeatedly debunked allegations of fraud in the 2020 election.

Georgia election officials won’t say what actions they’ve taken, if any, to improve security or detect tampering. State election officials declined to answer questions about a report they haven’t seen, which outlined the flaw as part of a lawsuit aimed at forcing the state to abandon its $138 million voting system that prints out paper ballots and instead use paper ballots filled out by hand.
