The danger signs were everywhere in 2022.

With every new law enacted by federal and state legislatures, every new ruling handed down by government courts, and every new military weapon, invasive tactic and egregious protocol employed by government agents, we were reminded that in the eyes of the government and its corporate accomplices, “we the people” possess no rights except for that which the Deep State grants on an as-needed basis.

Totalitarian paranoia spiked. What we have been saddled with is a government so power-hungry, paranoid and afraid of losing its stranglehold on power that it has conspired to wage war on anyone who dares to challenge its authority. In a Machiavellian attempt to expand its powers, the government unleashed all manner of dangers on an unsuspecting populace in order to justify its demands for additional powers to protect “we the people” from emerging threats, whether legitimate, manufactured or overblown.

The state of our nation suffered. The nation remained politically polarized, controlled by forces beyond the purview of the average American, and rapidly moving the nation away from its freedom foundation. The combined blowback from a contentious presidential election and the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in Americans being subjected to egregious civil liberties violations, invasive surveillance, martial law, lockdowns, political correctness, erosions of free speech, strip searches, police shootings of unarmed citizens, government spying, and the criminalization of lawful activities.

Thought crimes became a target for punishment. For years now, the government has used all of the weapons in its vast arsenal—surveillance, threat assessments, fusion centers, pre-crime programs, hate crime laws, militarized police, lockdowns, martial law, etc.—to target potential enemies of the state based on their ideologies, behaviors, affiliations and other characteristics that might be deemed suspicious or dangerous. In other words, if you dare to subscribe to any views that are contrary to the government’s, you may well be suspected of being a domestic terrorist and treated accordingly. In 2022, those who criticized the government—whether that criticism manifested itself in word, deed or thought—were flagged as dangerous alongside consumers and spreaders of “mis- dis- and mal-information.”

Speech was muzzled. Those who want to monitor, muzzle, catalogue and censor speech continued to push for social media monitoring, censorship of flagged content that could be construed as dangerous or hateful, and limitations on free speech activities, particularly online. Of course, it’s a slippery slope from censoring so-called illegitimate ideas to silencing truth. Eventually, as George Orwell predicted, telling the truth will become a revolutionary act. If the government can control speech, it can control thought and, in turn, it can control the minds of the citizenry.

A bizarre video circulating on social media shows a biological male dressed as a woman complaining of suffering abdominal pains associated with menstruation.

The situation is baffling considering men do not experience menstruation and therefore cannot experience menstrual pain, however it’s par for the course in the looney topsy-turvy land of progressive liberalism.

The man, suspected of taking hormone replacement therapy medication that induced abdominal pain, was accused of acting and faking the pain.

America’s electric grid is being targeted in attacks for intentional sabotage. Over the last eight months, there have been 106 attacks. Authorities are investigating, and some news outlets are framing these as being launched by domestic extremists. The data doesn’t line up, however, and the full picture suggests instead that an unknown group may be launching coordinated attacks to bring American energy offline.

Meanwhile, multiple energy companies are warning of blackouts ahead of a deep freeze cold snap spreading across the nation. With news of suspected sabotage and potential risk to life, the cases are raising questions of who is behind this, and why.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams responded to criticism over increasing the use of facial recognition technology by declaring, “Big Brother is protecting you!”

Adams made the comments in response to elected officials who expressed concerns that using such technology could lead to an all-pervasive surveillance state.

Blaming his predecessor Bill de Blasio, Adams asserted that New Yorkers felt they were living in a “state of lawlessness” and that his priority was to “stabilise” the situation.

Facial recognition technology uses surveillance cameras to flag up individuals who appear on databases of criminal suspects when they enter certain public locations, although the technology is far from perfect.

“We will also move forward on using the latest in technology to identify problems, follow up on leads and collect evidence — from facial recognition technology to new tools that can spot those carrying weapons, we will use every available method to keep our people safe,” Adams previously asserted.

The Democrat also brazenly suggested that mass surveillance wasn’t a chilling slippery slide, but in fact a good thing.

“It blows my mind how much we have not embraced technology, and part of that is because many of our electeds are afraid. Anything technology they think, ‘Oh it’s a boogeyman. It’s Big Brother watching you,’” he told Politico. “No, Big Brother is protecting you.”

As in George Orwell’s 1984 dystopian classic, Adams presumably thinks that New Yorkers will learn to ‘love Big Brother’.

Albert Fox Cahn, the head of the Surveillance Technology Oversight Project, responded by warning that facial recognition technology would be weaponized to crack down on “every aspect of dissent” in the city.

“These are technologies that would be chilling in anyone’s hands. But to give an agency with such a horrifying record of surveillance abuse even more power, at a time when they face dwindling oversight, is a recipe for disaster,” he said.

Civil liberties advocates have warned that making facial recognition technology ubiquitous could lead to a Minority Report-style society where everyone, whether they have a criminal record or not, is tracked everywhere they go.

In China, authorities expanded the use of the tech as a form of permission slip to decide whether citizens are allowed to get online, an extension of the Communist state’s social credit score program.

United Nations (“UN”), World Economic Forum (“WEF”), private interests, behavioural change organisations and non-governmental organisations have been calling for a “New Deal for Nature.” Do not be fooled – the deal does not benefit nature or humanity.

It is foreseen by those behind the “new deal” that new investments or financial markets worth about $10 trillion over this decade will need to be created to provide opportunities for businesses to “engage” with the plan.

This “deal” incorporates the nefarious 30 by 30 plan which is to set aside 30% of land and oceans as “Protected Areas,” areas within which human activity is restricted or prohibited. Survival International, an international non-government organisation that works for human rights, recently told Down to Earth that the 30 by 30 goal will displace around 300 million indigenous people from their native lands and forests in the name of “conservation.”

Last week we published an article about a statement issued by the Indigenous Environmental Network, an American initiative to protect sacred sites, land, water, air, natural resources, and the health of both indigenous people and all living things. The statement exposed the private commercial interests at COP15 planning to profiteer from “Mother Earth.”

At the recent COP15 – the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (“UNCBD”) conference – the Global Biodiversity Framework, known as the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework was adopted.

“The outcome of the UNCBD COP15 leaves Mother Earth open to be bought and sold by the private sector and through carbon trading. Violating Traditional Indigenous Knowledge, the agreement embraces the risky and dangerous gene drive extinction technology … All in all, COP15 prioritised the continued commodification and exploitation of Mother Earth over finalising a global framework that upholds Indigenous and human rights.” – Indigenous Environmental Network

Independently, the ‘No Deal for Nature’ campaign has investigated and detailed the monstrous and unprecedented assault on our living world under the guise of biodiversity. “At the forefront is the accelerating loss of biodiversity, upon which all life depends,” the campaign states, “this very real threat is now being marketed and exploited in order to reboot the global economy.”

Behind the call for a “New Deal for Nature” – recently rebranded Nature Positive, also referred to as a Global Deal for Nature, a Global Goal for Nature, or a Paris Agreement for nature – lie the world’s most powerful private and wealthy interests, behavioural change organisations such as Avaaz, and big conservation NGOs such as the World Wildlife Fund (“WWF”), the Wildlife Conservation Society (“WCS”) and The Nature Conservancy (“TNC”) who partner with the world’s biggest polluters.

Human rights violators WWF lead the charge for this deal, which essentially consists of a neo-colonial land grab from the most self-sufficient peoples on the planet, principally in Africa and Asia. The threat to people and their environment comes from the creation of “Protected Areas.” The “conservation” industry would like the current number of Protected Areas on land (and sea) increased to 30% by 2030 – “30 by 30,” also abbreviated as “30×30” or “30by30.” In Africa and Asia, these areas are controlled by military force to keep local people out, resulting in widespread human rights violations and even killings.

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) operates on a massive and non-stop business-scaled operation to capture elites in the countries it considers important. These operations have made a lot of progress across the world including substantial captures in the United States, according to former intelligence officers and experts.

“The Chinese Communist Party engages in [the] practice of elite capture. They put [an] immense amount of energy, [and an] incredible number of resources into targeting countries that are important to them. We are top of that list. And [they are] turning the elite in these countries into their will,” said Sam Faddis, retired CIA officer and Senior Fellow at the Center for Security Policy in an interview on China in Focus, a show on NTD TV, Epoch Times’ sister media.

The Chinese elite capture has recently made a lot of news in different parts of the world with former intelligence officers like Faddis, and geo-political analysts especially, raising an alarm, and some calling it cognitive warfare.

“This is not science fiction. This is all day, every day, on an industrial scale. They have made a lot of progress in that regard in [the] United States. As sad as that is, we have a lot of people in positions of power that in one way or the other, now are inclined to help Beijing against the interests of Washington, D.C., and that is sick,” Faddis told the show’s host, Tiffany Meier.

In another interview on the Seattle-based the Discovery Institute, Scott S. Powell, Senior Fellow, at the Institute’s Center on Wealth, Poverty and Morality said that “elite capture” has been mastered by the CCP and these efforts are more successful in “subverting America” than the previous efforts by Soviet Communists.

“While the CCP uses front groups for propaganda, they have mastered all manner of techniques, with an emphasis on infiltration, to influence, compromise, and co-opt elites so as to “capture” them. Typical targets include university professors and scientists, media executives and reporters, and political and corporate leaders,” said Powell in an interview on Oct. 24.

Elite capture, according to Powell first developed in China where the rural elites used their authority and influence to “monopolize” the planning and management of public development projects for personal gain at the expense of the larger population.

Today, the CCP uses it as a strategy of expansion for the Belt and Road Initiate (BRI) in the developing world, and in destabilizing developed countries, particularly the United States, said Powell.

“With China running a multi-billion-dollar trade surplus with the United States for many years, it has a huge stockpile of U.S. dollars to facilitate elite capture through generous funding of bribery, but also through granting access and favors within China,” said Powell.

A former chairman of India’s Joint Intelligence Committee, S.D. Pradhan, on Dec. 19 raised a similar alarm about the Chinese intentions in an article in the Times of India where he called the cognitive domain the “sixth domain of warfare” and said such operations are planned in-depth after collecting the necessary data.

Warships from the two nations were supported by submarine-hunting aircraft

The Russian and Chinese militaries have finished a week of joint naval drills, during which the two sides practiced anti-submarine maneuvers, search and rescue operations and communications exercises in the East China Sea.

The ‘Maritime Interaction 2022’ exercise wrapped up after seven days of drills, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Wednesday, noting that the warships “jointly searched for a submarine of a conditional enemy and fired a volley of jet depth charges” with the support of “anti-submarine aviation.”

“Naval task forces of the [Russian] Pacific Fleet and the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy have completed their tasks for the bilateral … exercise in the East China Sea,” it said in a statement.

Footage published by the ministry showed some of the drills in progress, with Russian sailors seen addressing their Chinese counterparts in Mandarin over the radio, while a number of naval guns and other weapons platforms were filmed in action.

In addition to simulating the destruction of an enemy sub with rocket-propelled depth charges, the exercises included “an operation to free a seized vessel” as well as rescue and communications missions, the ministry went on. Earlier Chinese media reports also stated the maneuvers would have a “deterrent effect on [the] US’ simultaneous suppression of China and Russia.”

According to China’s Xinhua News, the drills were staged in waters near the coastal cities of Zhoushan and Taizhou – held in closer proximity to Taiwan than previous iterations of the yearly exercises. 

The Russian naval group was led by the missile cruiser Varyag, the flagship of the Pacific Fleet, supported by two corvettes and a frigate, while the Chinese side was headed up by the destroyer Jinan. 

Beijing and Moscow have carried out several rounds of exercises together this year, including flights involving nuclear-capable bombers during US President Joe Biden’s visit to Japan, as well as bomber patrols over the Sea of Japan and East China Sea last month. The two countries have held joint naval drills since 2005 under the umbrella of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, a regional security bloc, and the ‘Maritime Interaction’ exercise has been carried out annually for the last 10 years.

The blaze started on the first floor and spread quickly along carpets before engulfing the multi-storey complex.
