Japanese riot police take on G7 protestors after brawl broke out during far-left demo near world leaders summit in Hiroshima

This is the moment the G7 summit of world leaders was hijacked by a riot in the host city of Hiroshima, Japan, as police wrestled a group of protesters to the ground.

Footage taken yesterday shows officers grabbing hold of activists waving placards and pinning them down.

The chaotic scenes occurred after a brawl broke out involving demonstrators, the BBC reports.

Japanese broadcaster NHK stated that the protesters had accused the G7 nations – the US, UK, Canada, France, Germany, Italy and Japan – of escalating the war in Ukraine.

In the minute-long clip, widespread shouting can be heard as a throng of riot police jostle with a protestor angrily lashing out at them.
