How Progressives & Conservatives Can Join Together to Win Power in France

Eric Zuesse

France’s Government represents its billionaires, who control the country’s media and non-profits, and armaments-makers, and their Government, and does not represent the country’s voters, who are fooled by those entities to vote for the politicians that those individuals fund. A way exists for France’s progressive and conservative politicians to possibly overcome that pervasive deceit by billionaires against the public and to introduce in France an authentic democracy — one based only on truths, no lies.

France’s recent Presidential elections have been fundamentally between that French Establishment versus a progressive whose Party was inherited from a far-right or extremist conservative ‘populist’ parent, but under one of that person’s children was quietly reversed to authentic progressive populism — no longer dependent upon France’s super-rich. In each of these recent Presidential elections, the Establishment won by means of its (its agents’) misrepresenting that Party as continuing to be far-rightwing instead of what it became and now is.

In the United States, the Democratic Party of the 1850s was the pro-slavery Party, and campaigned that way against Abraham Lincoln, the Republican who became the most progressive U.S. President up till his time. But by the time of the 1930s, the Democratic Party had switched to become controlled by Franklin Delano Roosevelt, who was as progressive as Lincoln had been. A Party can change its basic ideology. That is what happened to Jean-Marie Le Pen’s National Front Party in France when it became taken over by his daughter, Marine Le Pen. However, France’s media have continued to characterize that Party as being extreme-rightwing, and have therefore repeatedly defeated her and her Party against the billionaires’ candidate, Emmanuel Macron — by ideologically deceiving the nation’s voters about even what ideological labels really mean.

The only way in which France can become a democracy and the public take control over it would be for enough democratic-socialist left-wing politicians to abandon the Establishment’s ‘left-wing’ Parties that have drawn-off voters’ support away from Marine Le Pen, and who have thus made — and continue to make — the Establishment’s Macron the nation’s President. This would require these leftist politicians to announce that the real progressive Party is Le Pen’s, and to switch to it.

Billionaires traditionally can always fool enough voters away from real populism to vote for fake ones (conservative ones, often called “liberals”) that those billionaires finance, but if some of the self-acknowledged but fake leftists (who have been financed by left-wing billionaires) switch to join the dominant populist Party (which in France is Le Pen’s), then that trick against voters by billionaires won’t be able to work any longer.

This could now start to happen. Here is how and why:

Le Pen’s protégé, Florian Philippot, broke away from her Party in 2017 and created his own Party in order to draw off from her enough far-right voters to make for Macron an easy win against her in the 2022 Presidential contest but drew off from her less than 1% in the 2019 Parliamentary contests and thereby assured the immediate future of her National Front Party as being the nation’s dominant progressive Party and no longer needing votes from far-right voters. As France 24 News headlined on 18 December 2017, “Les Patriotes: How Le Pen’s ex-protégé hopes to win over French far right” and reported: “His party is due to hold its first party congress in February or March next year, but the first real test is considered to be the European parliamentary elections in 2019,” when his newly formed Party just flamed-out, and Marine Le Pen almost became France’s President in 2022. In France’s subsequent 2022 French Parliamentary elections, France 24 reported, on 19 June 2022, that “The biggest winner on the night … is Marine Le Pen’s National Rally party with 89 seats, 11 times more than it won back in 2017.” (They actually won 90 seats.) If that won’t doom Macron’s political career, what will? On 17 March 2023, the U.S. propaganda agency in Germany, Deutsche Welle, headlined from Paris, “France: Pension reform spells crisis for Macron: French President Emmanuel Macron is trying to push through a pension reform without a parliamentary vote. That has triggered a political crisis ― and could help the far right.” (In the land of the authentically far-right Hitler, equating the phrase “far-right” with the left is a very smart tactic in order to help crush anything that’s to the left of what he actually was. Billionaires’ agencies do that sort of thing in every country so as to prevent democracy from functioning there.) Now Big Brother even says that to oppose cuts to retirees’ incomes (they call it ‘reform’) and to social security programs, is “far-right.” But maybe that is stretching truth a bit too far even for many in the public to believe much longer. Maybe the jig is finally up and overthrown, in France. We’ll see.

Investigative historian Eric Zuesse’s new book, AMERICA’S EMPIRE OF EVIL: Hitler’s Posthumous Victory, and Why the Social Sciences Need to Change, is about how America took over the world after World War II in order to enslave it to U.S.-and-allied billionaires. Their cartels extract the world’s wealth by control of not only their ‘news’ media but the social ‘sciences’ — duping the public.
